课程的目的

Our curriculum is designed to develop:

  • students’ existing interests and passions

三个关键阶段

In Years 7 to 9 the aim is to improve our students’ knowledge to lay the foundations that prepare them for the rigours and challenge of 关键阶段4 及以后. 

学生 follow the full range of subjects at Key Stage 3, 包括:英语, 数学, 科学, 食品技术, 耐材料, a Foreign Language (French or Spanish), 地理位置, 历史, 艺术, 音乐, 戏剧, 体育课, 宗教教育, 计算机科学 and Citizenship.

关键阶段4

学生 make subject choices in Year 9, in order to start their GCSE courses in Year 10. These choices are based upon their Key Stage 3 experience, and many subjects begin some GCSE content in Year 9 to ensure students are fully aware of the content offered by subjects, and whether this is content that inspires them.

Our 关键阶段4 课程 has a strong focus on the core EBacc academic subjects of English Language and Literature, 数学 and 科学 as well as Languages and Humanities. 

Our option structure ensures that all students follow the EBacc curriculum as core. We are proud of entry levels in excess of 85% in recent years.  These subjects provide strong preparation for further study, enable social mobility and give a strong understanding the world. 

学生 are able to access the wider curriculum offer, covering a whole range of subjects by choosing additional optional subjects.  These subjects include: 艺术 and Design, 技术, Food Preparation and Nutrition, 音乐(GCSE和BTEC), 戏剧, 计算机科学, 媒体研究, 商业研究, 体育课, 健康和健身, 独立的科学, 统计数据, 进一步的数学.

The curriculum is further enriched by a range of trips and visits of varying duration that occur throughout the five-year journey, 在国家, local and international level.  There are also various internal enrichment opportunities to access within school both of a sporting and academic nature.  A sample include:  Spelling Bees, 数字的领导人, 编码, GCSE天文学, 普通中等教育证书考试的统计数据, 音乐al Clubs - both instrumental and vocal, 茎俱乐部, 读者的领导人, 文化大使, 辩论, 数学挑战, Creative Writing and many more.

These ignite passions and interests that can be sustained beyond school and into later life.

浓缩

浓缩 is an important part of our curriculum, and there are many activities that take place to further develop students’ cultural awareness, to ensure they have an understanding and appreciation of life in Britain, 及以后, and that they are prepared for life in modern Britain (trips to other countries, 议会等.). 

There are a range of enrichment opportunities for students, ranging from after school sessions to trips and visits, and students are encouraged to participate in, and respond positively to these opportunities.  A priority for the school is to develop participation in music and drama opportunities over the year.  The beginning of this has been positive, with numbers of students engaging in theatre visits.

评估

学生 are assessed against the competencies specific to each year group in each subject. The acquisition of these curriculum competencies is used to generate a ‘tracking towards’ grade on the 9 – 1 GCSE scale.

在关键阶段3 we align the outcomes with the GSCE 9 – 1 scale. 学生 progress will be assessed regularly and feedback given. 课程领导, tutors and teachers can target underperformance and specifically advise students and parents what is needed for the student to improve.

10年, assessment is made by teachers, to give a current and tracking towards grade on the 9 – 1 scale alongside a working at grade.

11年, teachers will report on the current grade and make a prediction based on standardised and moderated examination and assessment results.

在所有年龄组中, the progress of students towards the GSCE targets is monitored by Senior Leaders and 课程领导. 学生 who are not ‘tracking towards’ their expected grade will be considered for intervention. This happens at all levels and increasingly in KS3 as well as KS4.

This is the 皇冠集团app下载 curriculum, we operate a two-week timetable, it offers breadth but also the opportunity for mastery and depth of study. We recently changed the timings of our day to reflect three longer sessions per day rather than five shorter lessons.
